The Shih Tzu is an outgoing, docile, affectionate, stable, lively an funny, generally trusting toward everyone he meets. Being a very intelligent dog, the Shih Tzu bonds easily to his family and is excellent with children over 6 years of age. The Tzu can also be occasionally obstinate.

The Shih Tzu is an affectionate breed who require minimal exercise and thrive on human contact. If you don't have a lot of time to spend with your dog, the Shih Tzu is not a breed for you. She generally weighs between 9 and 16 pounds.









Shih Tzus come in several colors:
- Gold and white
- Red and white
- Black and white
- Solid black
- Solid liver or red
- Black mask gold (gold body with black face)
- Liver
- Brindle (silver or blue combined with white)

Whichever the color, one fact remains: if you are not willing to brush the coat daily and grooming your Shih Tzu regularly, you will not be able to maintian the majestic double-coated Shih Tzu. Regular eye and ear cleaning is also required.

Although a lovable and loving dog, the Shih Tzu needs training as she can be obstinate and rambunctous if not given boundaries. Otherwise this little angel can quickly become a little devil!
